Description
From the moment he reaches the rough mining town of Gold City, looking frightened as a light-struck deer, Jeb knows that his life will never be the same. And he's right. He learns what it is to be in the world and yet not of it; in its turmoil and din, its jealousy and greed, Jeb strives to live out his faith with integrity. But the years bring unexpected temptations, which Jeb is unprepared to face.
Will he give in to the pressure? The vicious wrath of Dan Dean rears its ugly head time and time again, until Jeb finds himself being accused of incomprehensible wrongdoing. He suffers deeply in his own version of Gethsemane and Calvary until, at last, the depths of tribulation give way to heights of glory.
A Customer review: Great Christian role model!
Poor and pathetic, Jeb arrives in Gold City looking for his father, who had left years before in order to make a fortune for his family. But when Jeb finds out his father died as a penniless gambler, he is devastated—and alone. Jeb is adopted by a local old man, and he is raised in the community, though Jeb never feels quite accepted among the locals. Soon, he comes to a faith in Jesus Christ, and the book watches him grow as he learns to minister to those who hate him—while overcoming some of the hardest tragedies of his young life. Jeb’s growth from a pitiful little boy with faith to a strong young man who lives for his Savior is inspiring and admirable. This is a great book, especially for young boys, as they can read about the thrilling dramas of the old west mixed with a great Christian role model!
