A superbly useful guide for every homeschool parent, whether you consider yourself "organizationally challenged" or already quite orderly in your aims, you'll still find valuable suggestions. Covers how to organize your time, space, your mind and thoughts! Best of all, it offers techniques achievable for anyone.
A veteran educator has compiled her most-requested homeschooling workshop material so that families can become more proficient in educating their kids. Covering issues like time management, space usage and materials, author Vicki Caruana addresses a variety of organizational needs to help families structure not only their work areas, but also their thinking, their paperwork--and each other! By the book's end, she inspires readers to re-evaluate, reorganize, and form new habits, leaving behind the stress and inefficiency of a cluttered life.
"I am naturally very organized, but I love books on the subject because I am always wanting to improve. One paragraph really stood out to me, called Time Well Spent. How do we know if our time has been well spent? If we finish the things that we hoped to get done, it is time well spent. If we don't accomplish what we hoped to get done, somehow we think time was wasted. But what if you hoped to complete Sam's math lesson within an hour but instead spent that time searching for Bible references about pride after Sam boasted to his siblings that he was gifted in math? Was that a waste of time? The math did not get done. Yet in God's eyes the time was spent in a productive manner. He provided an opportunity for Sam to learn more about himself and about God. That was definitely time well spent.
It is important that we are flexible enough in our scheduling to allow for Godly interruptions" I loved this because it emphasizes the whole reason that we homeschool to have a Godly influence in the life of our children and how THAT is our priority. -Deb (a homeschooling mom)
As a self-proclaimed "messie", I have been led to read many organizational books. It was so refreshing to find this book which combined the two desires of my heart; to one, transform myself spiritually not just physically, and two, minister to my family's specific needs as we homeschool.
This book addresses the specific heart issues that can challenge you, and gives scriptures of encouragement to feed the soul. Vicki also gives many practical insights to inspire one to adapt to their families specific needs. As soon as I discovered it, I bought one for myself and promptly bought two more and gave them to friends. I highly recommend it. -- Jennifer, a homeschool mother
